Planned cuts to education funding in Ontario mean fewer teachers in our classrooms, fewer support staff in our schools, and fewer opportunities for our kids to succeed.

Ask Your MPP Today:

How will fewer teachers in the classroom improve our kids' education?

Our government should be investing in our kids' education, not cutting the number of teachers in our classrooms, the number of support staff in our schools, and the number of courses available to our kids.

Fewer Educators & Fewer Resources = Fewer Opportunities for our Kids.

The Issue

The Ford Government has said it's “building an education system for success.” The reality is, under their plan, our schools will have fewer teachers, fewer programs, and more students crowded into classrooms.

This government's first budget will increase the average high school class size by 25% and cut a full quarter of the educators working in Ontario's high schools by 2022. How is that building for success?

Fewer teachers mean less attention paid to the individual needs of our students. Fewer support staff mean our kids won't be able to access the critical supports they need to succeed. And fewer resources mean our students will be at a disadvantage when it comes to planning their future.

Who gets hurt by cuts to education?

Our Children

Our children will get less attention than they deserve and need in a crowded classroom.

Our Families

Families depend on their children getting a good education that prepares them for the future.  Any loss in resources, services, or staff jeopardizes their education.

Special Programs

Students in special programs will suffer because of cuts to education.  The combination of fewer programs and larger classrooms with fewer staff will undermine the learning environment of students.

We expect our taxes to pay for the most important priorities, like public education. Cuts to education put our students' and our province's futures at risk and that is not in anyone’s interest.

Jobs & Our Economy

Education is Ontario’s best investment.  Cuts to education will mean our kids are less prepared when it comes to finding good quality jobs near home.

Autistic Students

Already announced funding cuts to families of children with autism will send thousands of students back into schools that do not have the resources, staff or programming to provide them with the services they need. Schools are being asked to do even more with even fewer resources and that harms all of our students.
