'I'm on strike because' — Brampton teachers explain why

"I am on strike because empathy and collaboration cannot be taught by a computer."

Mary Fraser-Hamilton, Josh Crozier and Rob Martins wrote, filmed and edited the powerful one-minute video that features messages from 14 teachers.

“I am on strike because empathy and collaboration cannot be taught by a computer,” says one teacher.

“I am on strike because at-risk kids need a safe space to get on track,” says another teacher.

Fraser-Hamilton said there has been a lot of misleading information and “spin” from the province about why teachers are striking.

The video explains why teachers from the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) are really on strike. “We wanted to speak directly to parents,” said Fraser-Hamilton, who has been a teacher for 10 years.

A group of teachers from David Suzuki Secondary School have created a video explaining why they are on strike.
